The First High Resolution Cationic UV Inkjet Gerber Introduces the New Solara ionZ ™ Inkjet Printer
SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn.— Gerber Scientific Products, Inc. has announced their latest innovative
technology in the wide-format UV inkjet printer marketplace the Gerber Solara ionZ. Capitalizing on their
experience and success with the Gerber Solara ionX and ionV inkjet printers, GSP® has developed a
technologically advanced, high-resolution, cationic UV ink jet printer that meets the varied needs of wide-
format, outdoor-durable digital printing applications.
Gerber previewed this new ion print technology at the ISA Expo in Las Vegas, NV, April 16-18, 2009.
The preview continued in the US at Gerber’s exclusive open house event at Gerber’s corporate
headquarters in South Windsor, CT, April 24-25, 2009. Currently, the European debut is taking place at
the FESPA Exposition in Amsterdam, Netherlands, May 12-14, 2009.
The new Gerber Solara ionZ delivers all of the benefits of the current Solara ion product family including
GerberCat™ Cationic UV Ink and Cold Fire Cure™ low temperature, long life technology, but with the
added advantage of high resolution image output. Curt Brey, executive director, digital solutions stated,
“We are pleased to preview this new ion print technology and we are our excited about what it will offer
future and even current Solara ion owners.”
Brey went on to explain “The entire ion product platform is designed to be highly versatile, and as Gerber
introduces new print technologies or advancements in an existing technology, current Solara ion owners
can benefit as well through field upgrade packages. In the case of the Solara ionZ, it is planned that
existing owners of the Solara ionX or Solara ionV will be able to upgrade their printers to generate higher
resolution output without having to invest in an entirely new printer.”
The Gerber Solara ionZ is targeted to be commercially available in the late summer of 2009.
