’Last Mile’ Digital Signage Extension and Distribution Solutions Highlighted in New Catalog

Zurich, Switzerland - Minicom Digital Signage (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/index.htm?PR_catalog), the leader in “last mile” player-to-screen connectivity platforms for the digital signage marketplace, has published a new catalog displaying all of its industry leading solutions in a single document. The catalog is available to visitors to Minicom’s booth located right at the entrance to Screen Media Expo Europe 2009 (booth E02). Those not attending the show can download a free soft copy of the catalog from Minicom’s website minicomdigitalsignage.com.

The eight page color catalog displays extension, distribution, and screen management solutions (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/requestav.cfm?PR_catalog) for “last mile” connectivity. The critical “last mile” in a digital signage network is the stage where the content is distributed from the player to the displays. The use of Minicom’s “last mile” distribution platforms allow the real-time transmission of high definition multimedia messages from a single source to hundreds of displays, eliminating unnecessary hardware/ software licenses and keeping the expensive media player safely in the back-office, where it can be easily serviced and maintained. They also allow the control and management of screens from a central point via the serial port and are designed to scale up to large digital out of home networks.

Being a manufacturer, exclusively dedicated to the digital signage market, Minicom offers in its catalog the most comprehensive range of multimedia extenders and distributors (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av-products.htm?PR_catalog) over CAT5/6/7 cable (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av-cables.htm?PR_catalog). The extenders (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av-extenders.htm?PR_catalog) overcome the natural distance limitation between the source and the displays. A single transmitter located close to the signal source, extends HD video, digital audio and serial signals up to hundred meters to a receiver, placed next to the display device. The catalog presents HDMI/DVI, AV, USB and serial extensions (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av-extenders.htm?PR_catalog), and also features the recently launched VGA Extender (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av_vga_extender.htm?PR_catalog), able to transmit video up to 110m/360ft from one source to one screen or one source to two screens.

Distributors (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av-distributors.htm?PR_catalog) are similar to extenders but split the audio, video and/or RS-232 signals into several parts allowing them to reach multiple screens. A single transmitter is located close to the video source and receivers are placed next to each display device. Minicom distributors include the award-winning DS Vision® 3000 distribution system providing audio, video and serial transmission as well as advanced screen management functions (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av_ds3000.htm?PR_catalog).
