3 Sign Associations & UL Working Together

On June 17, 2008 the sign industry met with Underwriters laboratories at their Northbrook, IL headquarters to discuss a variety of problems that have recently come to the industry's attention involving UL Certified sign shops.

Working together, the sign industry, represented by the United States Sign COuncil, the World Sign Associates and the International Sign Association, met with 5 UL executives including Mr. Keith Williams, Chief Executive Officer of Underwriters Laboratories.

As a result of this meeting the two parties agreed to establish a means of better communication between the sign industry and UL in the form of an "Industry Business Panel" which will be formed by volunteers from all three associations as well as the appropriate UL individuals.

Current plans are to continue this important dialogue with UL for the betterment of the sign industry. It should be noted that all three associations cooperated together on this issue to further the best interests of all of their member sign companies.
