St Ives' SP Group to beta test world's first Inca Onset large format UV digital flatbed printer
SP Group, part of the St Ives plc group of companies, will be the beta test site for the new Inca Onset, which claims to be the world's fastest digital UV flatbed printer.
The beta machine, supplied by Inca distributor Fujifilm Sericol, will be installed at the company's Redditch, UK, site in June, followed by intensive testing over a six-month period. According to SP Group Operations Director, Jeremy Jones, SP Group has marked competitive advantage in the wide-format display marketplace with the installation of this new printer from Inca.
Jones adds: "SP Group has always had a philosophy of investing in market-leading technology, in order to exceed customer expectations of quality, service and delivery, and this has included several investments in Inca digital printing equipment in the past. We're delighted to be able to build on this successful relationship by beta testing the world's first Inca Onset digital press.
"Pending successful testing, we're confident that the new machine will, ultimately, allow us to optimise our response to our customers' needs through better utilisation of our overall output capacity, while also letting us take advantage of new business opportunities, particularly in the screen printing arena."
Managing Director of Inca Digital, Bill Baxter comments: "SP Group's decision is a significant endorsement for us. The Inca Onset has been designed specifically to provide a flexible and cost-effective alternative to traditional high-volume, multicolour screen lines, with all the benefits that inkjet brings to this market. SP Group's in-depth knowledge of multicolour screen processes, inkjet printing and the display market makes it ideally placed to put the Inca Onset through its paces in a demanding, high-volume, production environment."
The Inca Onset is presented as the next generation of digital flatbed inkjet. Building on the technology of the Columbia Turbo and Spyder presses, the Inca Onset offers improved print quality with variable gloss levels, and enlarged colour gamut. With built-in automated feeding and stacking, the Onset is capable of up to 500 square metres per hour, or 100+ full bed sheets. This speed and quality is delivered by an array of 576 Spectra printheads, addressing a total of 73,728 inkjet nozzles in plug-in Inca print bars, supported by innovative alignment systems.
