MAKROFOL® & BAYFOL® Polycarbonate Films Customized for Manufacturers’ Needs Detailed in New Voice-Over CD

Berlin, CT - The newest innovations in polycarbonate films are detailed in a new voice-over CD from Bayer Films Americas, a Division of Sheffield Plastics Inc. MAKROFOL® and BAYFOL® Film products vary widely in surface, thickness, and recommended use. This CD informs purchasers about the latest products and suggests applications for each of the film varieties. Also, the products are arranged according to the film’s prominent features, and viewers can choose CD sections to view according to their own specific needs.

MAKROFOL and BAYFOL Film products are divided into five categories: Graphic Films, Light Diffusing Films, Weatherable Films, Flame Retardant Films, and Specialty Films. For each category, film varieties are first described according to grade, color, texture, thickness, application and distinguishing features. Bayer Films Americas follows up on these descriptions by offering examples of how each variety of film might be used.

MAKROFOL Graphic Films come in a variety of surface textures, with several first and second surface combinations available. These products can feature a first surface of gloss, fine velvet or velvet, along with a second surface of gloss, micromatte, fine matte, or very fine matte, with specific combinations of the above options available. These films give purchasers the opportunity to select textures according to use. MAKROFOL also offers LS 1-1, developed with low stress for accurate registration of printed graphics.

MAKROFOL Light Diffusing Films are designed to help manage light emitting from background sources and are often used in the automotive industry as well. The two varieties described in this CD are MAKROFOL BL and MAKROFOL LT. BL Films have high light diffusing properties and a fine velvet/very fine matte texture combination. LT Films are glass fiber filled and available in fine velvet/matte or matte/matte combinations.

BAYFOL Weatherable Films provide all of the benefits of PC film but in addition, allow for outdoor applications. For example, BAYFOL UV1 7-2 offers UV resistance and a velvet/very fine matte texture combination, perfect for outdoor labels.

Next, this CD covers MAKROFOL Flame Retardant Films, which are often used for electronic spacers and trade show displays. The PCVE 600 and PCVM 600 are opaque white and available in velvet/gloss and velvet/matte texture combinations, respectively. The MAKROFOL FR 7-2 is clear and available in a velvet/very fine matte combination.

The voice-over CD also describes BAYFOL Specialty Films, designed either to enhance existing film properties or to fit specific customer uses. BAYFOL CR Films have excellent chemical resistance, form easily and offer excellent actuation life in Membrane Touch Switch (MTS) applications. They are often used in handheld electronics and appliances along with numerous other areas. BAYFOL AS-A is an antistatic black film with a very fine matte/fine matte texture an ideal solution for electronic packaging.

Helpful information like sheet tolerances, conversion factors and a handy formula for determining shipping weight for film products is also included. The new CD is available by calling Bayer Films Americas at 866-659-9023.

Bayer Films Americas, a Division of Sheffield Plastics Inc., offers unique specialty films that provide excellent weatherability and chemical resistance for outdoor applications. They also offer excellent light diffusing characteristics for automotive applications, improved chemical resistance and actuation life for membrane switches, and excellent flame-retardant properties for display uses.
