Triveni Digital NAB2007 Preview
Triveni Digital, Inc., a subsidiary of LG Electronics, develops systems that provide for the management and distribution of data and metadata in digital television streams and other broadcast and multicast media. Triveni Digital ntroduces new products at NAB2007.
Mobile 8VSB Application for In-Car Infotainment
At NAB2007 Triveni Digital will be debuting its new mobile infotainment system for in-car applications. The company’s advanced new solution supports the rapid growth of automobile infotainment systems by distributing digital video content to mobile receivers and providing for local geographical coverage on a DMA basis at high data rates. This new application is based on the content-distribution platform SkyScraper™. SkyScraper is widely deployed in the North American market, reaching over 54 percent of the U.S. population over the existing DTV infrastructure.
StreamScope™
Triveni Digital Adds Network-Wide Monitoring and A/78 Transport-Stream Verification Capabilities to StreamScope Test and Measurement Product Line
The fourth-generation StreamScope™ product line enables efficient MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 stream-quality monitoring, analysis, and troubleshooting on an enterprisewide scale.
A/78 was developed to meet the needs of broadcasters, allowing early detection of those errors that most impact the viewing experience. The StreamScope MT-40 and RM-40 both support the error-severity prioritization defined in A/78, allowing the broadcaster to quickly detect and correct service impairments in the order of importance. Indispensable in the station or at any network location, rack-mountable and portable models are available with ASI, 8VSB, SMPTE 310, QAM, QPSK (including DigicypherII), and Gigabit Ethernet input support.
The new StreamScope products work together to enable cost-effective deployment across a broadcast operation, whether on a local, regional, or national scale. Innovative elements of the new StreamScope architecture also include a rule-based monitoring system, the Business Intent Assurance™ feature, and stream-transformation monitoring.
GuideBuilder™
The new, enhanced features of the GuideBuilder™ line include centralized PSIP and redundancy capabilities. The GuideBuilder system provides mission-critical operational capabilities for both content providers and network operators by generating accurate Program and System Information Protocol (PSIP) data. PSIP is mandated by the FCC, forms the foundation for ATSC digital television transport streams, and is important for digital cable carriage of Over-the-Air (OTA) broadcasts. Errors in PSIP data can cause lapses in the DTV signal, problems with closed captioning, and errors with electronic program guides (EPG), all significant concerns for broadcasters.
SkyScraper™ — Non-Real-Time Content Delivery and Applications
Data-Broadcasting Demonstrations at NAB2007 to Include Digital Signage, Homeland Security, and Education Applications
Data-broadcasting applications are created and deployed with the versatile SkyScraper™ content-distribution platform. The platform enables the point-to-multipoint delivery of any digital content over cable, satellite, terrestrial, and IP networks. Content supported includes digital files, media streams, IP traffic, software downloads, and iTV programming. Applications include B2B data delivery, digital signage, homeland security, push VOD, and education programming. The SkyScraper product family supports a wide variety of receivers including wireless devices, set-top boxes, and LCD screens with integrated controllers. Skyscraper systems deployed in broadcast stations already cover more that 50 percent of U.S. households.
SkyScraper™ Ensignia DS
Digital signage applications allow advertising content to be updated quickly and efficiently. Triveni Digital’s new SkyScraper™ Ensignia is an integrated turnkey suite of products that uniquely address the needs of the digital signage market. These solutions optimize bandwidth utilization and allow for scheduled content distribution based on service-level agreements (SLAs). Advertising content displayed can range from simple text and still images to full-motion video, with or without audio. LG Electronics display screens with integrated controllers simplify installation and maintenance while reducing footprint requirements.
SkyScraper™ Ensignia ESN
The SkyScraper™ Emergency Services Network (ESN) solution from Triveni Digital is an end-to-end communications network system. Utilizing any transport media, such as digital television broadcast, satellite, broadband, or WiMAX, SkyScraper ESN provides a secure and reliable data path, delivering training, operational, and emergency alert information to targeted first responder sites. Homeland Security, emergency management, police, fire, health, and other public safety agencies using the SkyScraper solution can network information that is up-to-date and available. The system uses encryption of content during transmission to ensure security is equally applicable for local, state, regional, and national agencies.
