Weathertyte™ Preferred For High-end Awning Design
Pawtucket, RI - Mr. Chuck Jackson, Vice President of I.D. Signs in
Springfield, Illinois, had already specified a popular woven acrylic fabric
to use for a forty-four foot awning for an established family-owned jewelry
and gift store; that was until he was introduced to Cooley Weathertyte™.
The awning Mr. Jackson was designing for Giganti & Giganti needed to
have a high-end look and once presented with the opportunity to see and
realize the benefits of Cooley Weathertyte, he scratched the woven acrylic
and specified Weathertyte.
Mr. Jackson said, "Weathertyte gave me the premium "fabric-look" my
customer was looking for and because the product is waterproof and won't
sag over time, my choice was easy; I changed my specification to include
Weathertyte." Mr. Jackson also said that he would use Weathertyte again in
other high-end awning designs.
The awning was fabricated by AI Innovations, located in Indianapolis,
Indiana. Mr. Sam Knoop, Sales Representative for Awning Innovations said
that the awning was built in three separate sections, using a total of 16
yards of Weathertyte. Pressure sensitive vinyl was applied using a heat
transfer machine and a sewn, scalloped valance was added to create the
"finished" element.
Unlike many woven acrylic fabrics, Weathertyte is 74" wide, which
allows the material to be "railroaded" so the entire length of the finished
awning has no visible seams.
Weathertyte is manufactured by Cooley Sign & Awning Products and is a
technically advanced, totally waterproof material, which offers the look
and feel of a woven fabric but has all the benefits of a high performance
composite vinyl. Weathertyte is also flame retardant and can be decorated
with conventional techniques. Weathertyte can be easily digitally printed
as well. More information about Weathertyte can be found at
