SGIA ’06 — In with the New

Product launches, new developments in direct-to-garment, ink systems & applications set the stage for maximizing converging markets & new technologies Fairfax, Virginia — It’s an exciting time to be an imaging professional, and SGIA ’06 (Las Vegas, September 2629) will prove it, said SGIA President Michael Robertson.

Robertson noted that exhibitors are making sure they have new products ready for SGIA ’06 — including the very latest in direct-to-garment digital imaging, ink systems, media and digital flatbed technology.

For the latest from SGIA ’06 exhibitors, browse the Virtual Trade Show, and watch the SGIA.org home page for new product updates starting August 1. Explore New Markets

In the Expo Hall, SGIA ’06 will spotlight applications that can expand your business with these special exhibits and demonstrations:

  • The Wrap Display Area features daily demonstrations of the latest wrapping technologies, materials and techniques by leading suppliers. Each day’s demonstration begins at 10:30 am:
    • Tuesday, September 26 3M Graphics Market Center (SGIA ’06 Platinum Sponsor)
    • Wednesday, September 27 Avery Dennison Graphics Division North America
    • Thursday, September 28 Oracal USA
    • Friday, September 29 Arlon Inc.
  • Interior design digital applications are in the spotlight on the show floor, too, with a special display and companion session, “Digital Imaging Interiors: Discover the Possibilities.” The free seminar meets 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 27, and features Lynn Krinsky (Stella Color) and Patti Williams (IT Strategies), with Johnny Shell (SGIA) as moderator.
  • SGIA and a cast of exhibiting companies will present two complete digital imaging production lines at the Digital Workflow Pavilion. Stop by to see the production process up close and talk one on one with the digital imaging experts on hand. You’ll walk out understanding what you need to go from image to finished product in the world of digital imaging.

“Increased speeds and production capabilities of digital equipment, along with an expanding price range, are re-creating the specialty imaging market landscape. These exhibits are an opportunity to see how you can take advantage of the new scenario,” he said.

Understand & Innovate
“Established graphics printers, sign shops, photo imagers, lithographers and others are refocusing their businesses with digital flatbed inkjet devices in mind, while new competitors are concentrating on flatbed technology from the beginning. With each refocus or new competitor, your markets and marketplace shift,” Robertson added.

To help specialty imagers take advantage of these constant shifts, SGIA continues its Future Forum series with two sessions at SGIA ’06. At "Considerations for Flatbed Inkjet Printing" (Wednesday, September 27) imagers will learn what to ask and what to know when making this important equipment purchase. Then, on Thursday, September 28, "Steps Forward: The Future of Imaging” presents an elite industry panel that will examine the potential frontier of imaging and how it can change your business.

“SGIA ’06 is not about taking a chance. It is your chance. SGIA Expos showcase the many technologies specialty imagers use, and they spark innovative new approaches to employing multiple technologies,” Robertson said.

Qualify for a free SGIA ’06 Expo Hall pass; register before July 15. The SGIA Virtual Trade Show, a current SGIA ’06 floor plan and exhibitor list are online at SGIA.org. SGIA ’06 sponsors include Platinum Sponsors Hewlett Packard Co., 3M Graphics Market Center, US Screen & Inkjet Technology and VUTEk. Gold Sponsors are Bayer Films Americas, GBC, InteliCoat Technologies and Roland DGA Corp. SGIA invests sponsorship proceeds in SGIA Expos.
