SGIA Imaging Symposiums Finish with Imagers in the Lead
Attendees ask tough questions & learn how to maximize digital capabilities
Fairfax, Virginia — SGIA’s 2006 Imaging Symposiums successfully connected interested digital technology buyers and well-versed users with new ideas and techniques.
Symposium speakers noticed a majority of attendees at the symposiums in Chicago and Providence, Rhode Island, already had a fairly firm grasp on how to utilize digital equipment and consumables in their production facilities.
“There were quite a number of production people — those who use printers, handle the color or have experience with digital technology — there who had reached the point where they needed to get to the next step in terms of digital information,” said Roland DGA Corp. Product Manager Tony Miller, who gave presentations at both events.
SGIA’s symposiums helped technology users move to that next step by teaching ways to transcend from printing images that meet customers’ expectations to producing vibrant, quality work that will secure repeat business.
“The presentations gave a cohesive strategy for making the right choices in achieving that goal,” said Dan Marx, SGIA Vice President, Markets & Technologies.
Courses on color management served as the cornerstone for the two-day conferences, which allowed attendees to mingle with suppliers, manufacturers and other industry peers and to challenge experts with questions about improving or integrating digital technology in their businesses, Marx said.
But one message repeated itself at all four of the symposiums in Canada and the US: Digital imaging is a process, and the decisions made during that process can directly impact profitability and output quality.
“Attendees were looking for the ideas and education that the symposiums were supplying, and it was great to see that match-up,” Miller said.
